Animal Camouflage
Believe it or not, there are hundreds of animals that make Explore Park their home. In order to protect themselves, animals have adapted ways to avoid predators. Special adaptations also assist animals in catching prey and keeping their young safe. We’ll learn the secrets of the animal adaptations that allow animals of all sizes to hide in plain sight. Take a walk, look closely and discover some of the tracks and traces of the hidden animals that call the Park’s diverse habitats home. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Life in a Log
Trees that look like they are no longer growing are still a very important asset to the forest. Find out what lives and grows in, on and under seemingly dead trees. We’ll look closely at standing trees called snags and carefully roll and examine life in and under downed trees. You’ll be able to study our finds with magnifiers and observe animals’ adapted bodies and plant structure as well as learn about their life cycles. Find out what makes these fascinating animals and plants so important to the forest. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Pre-registration required.
