Soap Making (ages 18+)
The science of soap! Learn how soap becomes "soap" through the process of saponification and how to use online calculators to custom create any soap that suits your personal preference! Participants will have hands-on practice creating and following a recipe, learn important safety tips and will leave class with at least one pound of "raw" soap to take home to cure. This is a fast-paced course designed to give the basics of soapmaking. All supplies are provided. Bring a dinner or snack if desired. Instructor Lisa Hoyt has many years of experience instructing arts and crafts classes. She has taught for Michaels Craft Stores, a Parks and Recreation agency in New Hampshire, after school in Salem City Schools, and many more. Exploring Your Craft Cutting Machine (ages 18+)
Do you have a craft cutting machine that you do not understand? Do you want to get it out the box and use it? This class will explore "out of the box" ideas with demonstrations and hands on practice with Silhouette brand cutting machines (similar to Cricut) and help finding rescources for your particular machine. learn the process for making stickers, appliques, polymer clay, stencils, glass etching and more! Once you understand how to power up and cut, a new world of crafting will open for you. Please leave your machine at home for this class. You may bring your manual to make notes.
